This animation was made using both Photoshop and After Effects. I loosely based on Rick and Morty and Bob Ross's clouds. It all started with an initial sketch on Photoshop using a blue construction brush to get a rough idea of the subject.

After this is done. I draw over the basic shapes using a line brush to have clean idea of the drawing. In this phase I try to bring out all the details I might require the drawing to have

Using the as a reference I start blocking out the important colors on a separate layer in Photoshop for each color and object. This later helps me in after effects to independently move different parts of the character and background

with all the basic colors filled in each layer at this. I add in a first pass on adding details via color in bring out the contrast in lights and shadows to give the illustration a more 3D effect. Understanding of light theory applied to practical objects will be handy while mapping out the highlights and the dark shadows.

After this stage the layers are independently exported in after effects and by just using default Adobe After Effects Plugins like CC Bend it and Puppet-warp. I animated this drawing into a loop animation by making sure the first and last key-frame are the same.
